  • Author: ushinzomr

Description

These crispy onion rings are perfectly golden and crunchy, making them the ideal side dish or snack. Easy to make and a crowd favorite!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large onions, sliced into rings
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Slice the onions into rings and separate them.
  2. In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Dip each onion ring into the flour mixture, then into the buttermilk, and back into the flour mixture to coat.
  4. Next, dip the coated rings into the breadcrumbs to ensure they are fully covered.
  5. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Fry the onion rings in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
  7. Remove and drain on paper towels. Serve hot.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add spices like paprika or garlic powder to the flour mixture.
  • Make sure the oil is hot enough to ensure crispy rings and prevent them from absorbing too much oil.
