- 2 white fish fillets (cod or haddock, 6 oz each)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp pickle relish
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 2 burger buns
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil for frying
- Lettuce and sliced tomato for serving
Instructions
- Pat the fish fillets dry with paper towels.
- Season both sides with salt and pepper.
- Dredge each fillet in flour, dip in beaten egg, then coat with breadcrumbs.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and fry the fish for 3-4 minutes per side until golden and crispy.
- Mix mayonnaise, pickle relish, lemon juice, and garlic powder to make tartar sauce.
- Toast the buns lightly if desired.
- Spread tartar sauce on the buns, add lettuce, tomato, and the crispy fish.
- Serve immediately.
