This crispy air fryer chicken recipe delivers juicy, tender chicken with a perfectly crispy exterior in under 25 minutes. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner!

- 1 pound chicken thighs or breasts, boneless and skinless
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (Panko or regular)
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Add the chicken to the bowl and ensure each piece is fully coated. Cover and marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
- While the air fryer is preheating, remove the chicken from the marinade and let any excess drip off.
- Dredge each piece of chicken in the breadcrumbs, pressing lightly to adhere.
- Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place the chicken pieces in a single layer in the basket, making sure they do not touch.
- Spray the tops of the chicken pieces lightly with cooking spray.
- Cook for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F/74°C).
- Remove from the air fryer and let rest for a couple of minutes before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add your favorite spices to the breadcrumb mixture.
- Make sure not to overcrowd the air fryer basket for even cooking.
- Serve with your favorite dipping sauce or side dishes.
