  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (for gravy)
  • 2 cups milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine 2 cups flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the buttermilk until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently a few times until it comes together.
  6. Pat the dough into a 1-inch thick rectangle. Cut out biscuits using a biscuit cutter and place them on a baking sheet.
