- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 8 hot dogs, cut into bite-sized pieces
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Wooden skewers (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the cornmeal, flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together the milk and egg until well combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Heat oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Dip each hot dog piece into the batter, coating completely, then carefully place in the hot oil.
- Fry the corn dog bites in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
- Using a slotted spoon, remove the bites and drain on paper towels.
- If using skewers, insert one into each corn dog bite before serving.
- Serve warm with your favorite condiments.

- You can use any type of hot dogs for this recipe, including turkey or veggie dogs.
- For additional flavor, try adding spices or herbs to the batter.
