Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 8 hot dogs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Wooden skewers (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the cornmeal, flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the milk and egg until well combined.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Heat oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  5. Dip each hot dog piece into the batter, coating completely, then carefully place in the hot oil.
  6. Fry the corn dog bites in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
  7. Using a slotted spoon, remove the bites and drain on paper towels.
  8. If using skewers, insert one into each corn dog bite before serving.
