Ingredients

  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup (165g) packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups (281g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually blend this dry mixture into the wet mixture.
  5. Stir in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  6. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.

Notes

  • For softer cookies, do not overbake.
  • You can substitute half of the chocolate chips for nuts if desired.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
