- 1 cup light corn syrup

Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, water, and salt.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
- Bring to a boil without stirring until the mixture reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Add nuts or chocolate chips if desired.
- Pour onto a greased baking sheet and let cool.
- Once cooled, break into pieces.
