- 1 cup whole milk
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt over medium heat until the mixture is smooth and the sugar is dissolved.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Let the mixture cool to room temperature.
- Once cooled, cover and refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours, or until thoroughly chilled.
- Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions, typically about 20-25 minutes.
- If using, add the chocolate chips during the last 5 minutes of churning.
- Transfer the ice cream to an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours to firm up before serving.

- If you don’t have an ice cream maker, you can pour the mixture into a shallow dish and freeze it, stirring every 30 minutes until it’s creamy and frozen.
