  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts, if using.
  6. Drop dough by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving enough space between each cookie.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 9 to 11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown but the centers are still soft.
  8. Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
