- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- In another bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts, if using.
- Drop dough by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving enough space between each cookie.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 9 to 11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown but the centers are still soft.
- Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
