Description

A classic Chinese dish featuring tender beef and crisp broccoli in a savory sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, grated
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Marinate the beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, and 1 tsp oil for 10 minutes.
  2. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan over high heat. Stir-fry the beef until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. Add the remaining oil, garlic, and ginger. Cook for 30 seconds.
  4. Add broccoli and water. Cover and steam for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Return beef to the pan. Add oyster sauce, brown sugar, and sesame oil. Stir well.
  6. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until heated through. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Slice beef against the grain for tenderness.
  • Adjust soy sauce for saltiness preference.
  • Substitute oyster sauce with hoisin for a different flavor.
