- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 pita breads
- 1 cup tzatziki sauce
- 1 cup chopped tomatoes
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1/2 cup sliced red onion
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Add chicken thighs and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Grill the marinated chicken for about 6-7 minutes per side, or until fully cooked. Remove from heat and let rest for a few minutes.
- Slice the chicken into thin strips.
- Warm the pita breads on the grill or in a skillet.
- To assemble, place some chicken strips in the center of each pita. Top with tzatziki sauce, chopped tomatoes, lettuce, and red onion.
- Fold the pita and enjoy your homemade chicken gyro!
