Description
This chicken gyro recipe features marinated grilled chicken, fresh vegetables, and a creamy tzatziki sauce, all wrapped in warm pita bread for a delicious meal.

- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons plain yogurt
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 pitas or flatbreads
- 1 cup lettuce, shredded
- 1 tomato, diced
- 1 cucumber, diced
- 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
- Tzatziki sauce for serving
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together olive oil, yogurt, garlic, oregano, cumin, salt, and pepper.
- Add chicken thighs to the marinade and coat well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight for best flavor.
- Preheat grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Remove chicken from marinade and discard the marinade.
- Grill chicken for 6-8 minutes on each side, or until cooked through and juices run clear. Remove from heat and let rest for a few minutes before slicing.
- Warm pitas on the grill for about 1 minute on each side.
- To assemble the gyros, place sliced chicken on each pita, top with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and red onion.
- Drizzle with tzatziki sauce and wrap the pita around the filling. Serve immediately.
Notes
- For added flavor, marinate the chicken overnight.
