Description
A classic comfort food dish featuring crispy fried chicken served with golden, crunchy chips.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 chicken thighs (bone-in, skin-on)
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 large potatoes (for chips)
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, marinate chicken thighs in buttermilk for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.
- In another bowl, mix flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- While the oil is heating, peel and cut the potatoes into chip shapes. Soak them in cold water for 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
- Remove chicken from buttermilk and dredge in the flour mixture, ensuring a good coating.
- Fry chicken pieces in the hot oil for about 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Dry the soaked chips and fry in the same oil for 4-5 minutes or until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels and season with salt.
- Serve the fried chicken hot alongside the crispy chips.
