Description

A classic comfort food dish featuring crispy fried chicken served with golden, crunchy chips.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 chicken thighs (bone-in, skin-on)
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 large potatoes (for chips)
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, marinate chicken thighs in buttermilk for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.
  2. In another bowl, mix flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  4. While the oil is heating, peel and cut the potatoes into chip shapes. Soak them in cold water for 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
  5. Remove chicken from buttermilk and dredge in the flour mixture, ensuring a good coating.
  6. Fry chicken pieces in the hot oil for about 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  7. Dry the soaked chips and fry in the same oil for 4-5 minutes or until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels and season with salt.
  8. Serve the fried chicken hot alongside the crispy chips.
