Description
This air fryer chicken recipe results in juicy, tender chicken with a crispy, flavorful coating — all without the extra oil. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner!
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- In a large bowl, soak chicken breasts in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes (or up to overnight in the refrigerator for extra tenderness).
- In another bowl, combine flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Remove chicken from buttermilk and let excess drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, ensuring it’s well coated.
- Preheat air fryer to 380°F (193°C). Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
- Place the coated chicken breasts in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Spray the tops with cooking spray for extra crispiness.
- Cook for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the chicken is golden brown and has reached an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- Remove from the air fryer and let rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in the buttermilk with added spices or hot sauce.
- You can also use chicken thighs for a juicier result.
- Ensure not to overcrowd the air fryer basket for even cooking.
