Description
This crispy air fryer chicken recipe is easy to make and perfect for a quick weeknight dinner. The air fryer gives the chicken a deliciously crispy exterior while keeping it juicy on the inside.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
- Cooking spray or olive oil spray
Instructions
- In a bowl, marinate the chicken breasts in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes, or overnight for best results.
- In another bowl, mix together the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- Remove the chicken from the buttermilk and let the excess drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, coating well.
- Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Place the coated chicken breasts in the basket in a single layer, making sure they are not touching.
- Spray the tops of the chicken with cooking spray to help them crisp up.
- Cook in the air fryer for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the chicken is golden brown and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- Remove from the air fryer and let rest for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- For extra crispy chicken, double-dip by returning the marinated chicken to the buttermilk and then back to the flour mixture before air frying.
- Feel free to add your favorite spices to the flour mixture for additional flavor.
