A simple and flavorful carne asada taco recipe with marinated grilled steak, fresh toppings, and warm tortillas.

- 1.5 lbs flank steak
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1/4 cup lime juice
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
- 8 small corn tortillas
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 1/2 cup chopped fresh tomatoes
- 1 avocado, sliced
- Lime wedges for serving
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix olive oil, lime juice, garlic, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper to make the marinade.
- Coat the flank steak with the marinade and let it sit for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours in the fridge.
- Preheat grill or skillet to medium-high heat.
- Grill the steak for 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness.
- Let the steak rest for 5 minutes, then slice thinly against the grain.
- Warm the tortillas on the grill or in a dry skillet for 30 seconds per side.
- Assemble tacos with steak, onions, tomatoes, avocado, and cilantro.
- Serve with lime wedges.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a splash of orange juice to the marinade.
- If you don’t have a grill, use a cast-iron skillet.
- Letting the steak rest ensures juiciness.
