- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 cup Gruyere cheese, grated
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp fresh thyme, chopped
Instructions
- Heat butter and olive oil in a pan over medium-low heat.
- Add onions, salt, and sugar. Cook slowly, stirring occasionally, until deeply caramelized (about 30 minutes).
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, mix caramelized onions, Gruyere cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, black pepper, and thyme.
- Transfer mixture to an oven-safe dish.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Serve warm with bread, crackers, or vegetables.
