Description
A delicious and savory bourbon chicken recipe that combines tender chicken pieces with a sweet and tangy bourbon sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/2 cup bourbon
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup apple juice
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
- Green onions, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the bourbon, soy sauce, brown sugar, apple juice, garlic, and ginger. Mix well and set aside.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
- Pour the bourbon mixture over the browned chicken. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 10 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
- In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water together until smooth. Stir this mixture into the skillet and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce is thickened.
- Serve the bourbon chicken hot, garnished with chopped green onions.
Notes
- For an extra kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
- Serve over rice or with steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
