Ingredients

  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • Powdered sugar for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
  2. Arrange the slices of French bread in the dish, overlapping them slightly.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  4. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread slices, ensuring all pieces are soaked.
  5. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Remove the plastic wrap and pour the melted butter over the top of the bread.
  8. Drizzle maple syrup over the bread as well.
  9. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden and the custard is set.
  10. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
