Description
Beef Wellington is a classic dish featuring tender beef coated in mushrooms and wrapped in puff pastry.
Ingredients

- 1.5 lbs beef tenderloin
- 8 oz mushrooms, finely chopped
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 oz pâté (optional)
- 1 package puff pastry (2 sheets)
- 1 egg, beaten
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil for cooking
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Season beef with salt and pepper.
- In a pan, heat olive oil and sear beef on all sides until browned.
- Remove beef and let it cool.
- In the same pan, add onion, garlic, and mushrooms. Cook until moisture evaporates.
- Let mushroom mixture cool.
- Roll out puff pastry on a floured surface.
- If using, spread pâté on the pastry.
- Place cooled beef on the pastry, then top with mushroom mixture.
- Wrap the pastry around the beef, sealing edges.
- Brush with beaten egg.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let rest before slicing.
Notes
- Make sure the beef is fully cooled before wrapping.
- Use a meat thermometer for perfect doneness.
- Serve with a red wine sauce for added flavor.
