Description

Beef Wellington is a classic dish featuring tender beef fillet coated with pâté and wrapped in puff pastry.


Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs beef tenderloin
  • 2 cups mushrooms, finely chopped
  • 4 oz pâté
  • 1 package puff pastry (2 sheets)
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Season the beef with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over high heat and sear the beef on all sides for 5 minutes.
  4. Remove the beef and let it cool.
  5. In the same skillet, add mushrooms and cook until moisture evaporates.
  6. Spread Dijon mustard over the cooled beef.
  7. Layer pâté over the mustard.
  8. Wrap the beef with mushroom mixture and then with puff pastry.
  9. Seal edges and brush with beaten egg.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until pastry is golden brown.
  11. Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
