Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs beef sirloin tips, cubed
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp dried thyme

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add beef tips and brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté onion and garlic until softened, about 3 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle flour over onions and stir to coat. Cook for 1 minute.
  5. Slowly whisk in beef broth, scraping up any browned bits.
  6. Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and thyme. Stir well.
  7. Return beef tips to the skillet. Simmer for 20-25 minutes until beef is tender and gravy thickens.
  8. Serve hot over mashed potatoes or rice.

Notes

  • For a thicker gravy, mix 1 tbsp cornstarch with 2 tbsp water and stir into the simmering sauce.
