Description
Tender beef tips cooked in a rich, savory gravy, perfect for serving over rice or mashed potatoes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds beef sirloin, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
- 2 tablespoons water (optional, for thickening)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
- Add the beef cubes and brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, then add thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 1 hour or until the beef is tender.
- If you prefer a thicker gravy, mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl to create a slurry, then stir it into the skillet and cook for an additional 5 minutes until thickened.
- Serve warm over rice or mashed potatoes.
Notes
- Feel free to add vegetables like carrots or mushrooms for extra flavor.
- If using a slow cooker, brown the beef and onions first, then transfer to the slow cooker with the remaining ingredients and cook on low for 6-8 hours.
