  • Author: ushinzomr

Description

Beef shawarma wraps are delicious Middle Eastern sandwiches filled with marinated beef, fresh vegetables, and a creamy sauce, all wrapped in soft pita bread. They are a popular street food and are enjoyed for their bold flavors and satisfying texture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb beef, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons ground paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 pita breads
  • 1 cup lettuce, shredded
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 1/2 cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup tahini sauce or garlic sauce

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the olive oil, cumin, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Add the sliced beef and toss to coat. Marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours in the refrigerator.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Warm the pita breads in a dry skillet or microwave.
  4. To assemble, place a portion of cooked beef in the center of each pita. Top with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, red onion, and drizzle with tahini or garlic sauce.
  5. Wrap the pita around the filling, folding in the sides to secure. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, let the beef marinate overnight.
  • Feel free to add additional toppings such as pickles or hot sauce.
  • You can substitute beef with chicken or lamb for variation.
