Description

This beef brisket recipe features a flavorful dry rub that enhances the meat’s natural smoky flavor, resulting in a tender and juicy dish that is perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (5-6 pounds) beef brisket, trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 cup beef broth or water
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, kosher salt, cayenne pepper, cumin, and thyme to create the dry rub.
  3. Rub the spice mixture all over the brisket, ensuring it is evenly coated. Let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to an hour, or refrigerate overnight for deeper flavor.
  4. Place the brisket in a roasting pan, fat side up. Pour the beef broth and apple cider vinegar into the pan around the brisket.
  5. Cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil to retain moisture.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 4 to 5 hours, or until the brisket is tender and easily pulls apart with a fork. Check for doneness after 4 hours.
  7. Once cooked, remove the brisket from the oven and let it rest for 20-30 minutes before slicing against the grain.
  8. Serve warm with your favorite sides and enjoy!

Notes

  • For an extra smoky flavor, consider using a smoked brisket or adding a few drops of liquid smoke to the dry rub.
  • Leftover brisket can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
