Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb beef, thinly sliced
- 1 lb lamb, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tsp ground cumin
- 2 tsp ground coriander
- 1 tsp ground paprika
- 1 tsp ground turmeric
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Juice of 1 lemon
- Pita bread, for serving
- Fresh vegetables (lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers), for garnish
- Tahini sauce or garlic sauce, for serving
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, salt, pepper, and lemon juice.
- Add the sliced beef and lamb to the marinade, making sure all the meat is well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
- Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Remove the marinated meat from the refrigerator and cook in batches for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until cooked through and slightly charred.
- Once cooked, remove the meat from the heat and let it rest for a few minutes.
- Slice the meat into smaller pieces if desired and serve in warm pita bread with fresh vegetables and your choice of sauce.
Notes
- For an authentic flavor, consider using a shawarma spice blend.
- You can also cook the meat in an oven at a high temperature if you don’t have a grill.
- Serve with pickles and hot sauce for an extra kick.
