Description

A delicious blend of marinated beef and lamb, cooked to perfection and served in warm pita bread with fresh vegetables and sauces.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb beef, thinly sliced
  • 1 lb lamb, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp ground paprika
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Pita bread, for serving
  • Fresh vegetables (lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers), for garnish
  • Tahini sauce or garlic sauce, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, salt, pepper, and lemon juice.
  2. Add the sliced beef and lamb to the marinade, making sure all the meat is well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
  3. Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Remove the marinated meat from the refrigerator and cook in batches for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until cooked through and slightly charred.
  5. Once cooked, remove the meat from the heat and let it rest for a few minutes.
  6. Slice the meat into smaller pieces if desired and serve in warm pita bread with fresh vegetables and your choice of sauce.

Notes

  • For an authentic flavor, consider using a shawarma spice blend.
  • You can also cook the meat in an oven at a high temperature if you don’t have a grill.
  • Serve with pickles and hot sauce for an extra kick.
