- 12 lasagna noodles
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 24 ounces marinara sauce
- 15 ounces ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, cooking until softened.
- Stir in the marinara sauce and simmer for 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- In a bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, egg, basil, oregano, and half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
- Layer the lasagna in a baking dish: start with a layer of meat sauce, followed by noodles, then the cheese mixture. Repeat until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of meat sauce on top.
- Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses over the top.
- Bake for 25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let the lasagna cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
- For a vegetarian option, replace the meat with sautéed vegetables like mushrooms, zucchini, and bell peppers.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
