Ingredients
Scale
- 1 block firm tofu, drained and pressed
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped green onions for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Cut the pressed tofu into thick slices or cubes, depending on your preference.
- In a bowl, whisk together the barbecue sauce, olive oil, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Place the tofu in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over it, ensuring all pieces are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or overnight for more flavor.
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. If using a grill pan, heat it over medium heat on the stovetop.
- Remove the tofu from the marinade and reserve the marinade for basting.
- Grill the tofu for about 4-5 minutes on each side, basting with the reserved marinade during cooking, until it is golden brown and has grill marks.
- Remove from the grill and let it sit for a few minutes before serving.
- Garnish with chopped green onions if desired, and enjoy your BBQ tofu!
Notes
- For extra flavor, consider marinating the tofu overnight.
- You can also bake the tofu in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through for even cooking.
- Serve with your favorite sides like coleslaw, grilled vegetables, or on a sandwich.
