Description
A mouthwatering BBQ brisket recipe that yields tender, flavorful meat with a smoky finish, perfect for your next gathering or family dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 (5-7 lb) whole brisket, trimmed
- 2 tablespoons kosher salt
- 2 tablespoons black pepper
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup BBQ sauce (for serving)
- Wood chips (hickory or mesquite) for smoking
Instructions
- Preheat your smoker to 225°F (107°C).
- In a small bowl, mix together the kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper to create a dry rub.
- Rub the spice mixture all over the brisket, ensuring it’s evenly coated.
- Place the brisket in the smoker, fat side up, and insert a meat thermometer into the thickest part of the meat.
- Smoke the brisket for about 1.5 hours per pound, or until it reaches an internal temperature of 195°F to 205°F (90°C to 96°C).
- Every hour, spritz the brisket with beef broth to keep it moist.
- Once the brisket is done, remove it from the smoker and wrap it in aluminum foil or butcher paper. Let it rest for at least 30 minutes.
- After resting, slice the brisket against the grain and serve with BBQ sauce.
Notes
- For best results, use a digital meat thermometer to monitor the internal temperature.
- Allowing the brisket to rest is crucial for juicy slices.
- Experiment with different types of wood chips to customize the smoky flavor.
