A classic, creamy banana pudding that layers delicious vanilla pudding, fresh bananas, and vanilla wafers for a delightful dessert.

- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 4 large egg yolks, beaten
- 3 cups whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large bananas, sliced
- 1 box vanilla wafers
- Whipped cream for topping
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, flour, and salt. Gradually whisk in milk and egg yolks.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens and starts to boil. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- In a serving dish, layer vanilla wafers, sliced bananas, and the pudding mixture. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, ending with pudding on top.
- Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld.
- Top with whipped cream before serving.
Notes
- For added flavor, consider using banana flavoring in the pudding.
- If you want to prevent bananas from browning, toss them in a little lemon juice before layering.
