  • Author: ushinzomr

Description

A classic, creamy banana pudding that layers delicious vanilla pudding, fresh bananas, and vanilla wafers for a delightful dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large egg yolks, beaten
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large bananas, sliced
  • 1 box vanilla wafers
  • Whipped cream for topping

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, flour, and salt. Gradually whisk in milk and egg yolks.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens and starts to boil. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  3. In a serving dish, layer vanilla wafers, sliced bananas, and the pudding mixture. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, ending with pudding on top.
  4. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld.
  5. Top with whipped cream before serving.

Notes

  • For added flavor, consider using banana flavoring in the pudding.
  • If you want to prevent bananas from browning, toss them in a little lemon juice before layering.
