  • 2 3/4 cups milk
  • 3 large egg yolks, beaten

  • 4 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1 box (11 oz) vanilla wafers
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, whisk together sugar, flour, and salt.
  2. Gradually whisk in milk and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened and bubbly.
  3. Stir a small amount of the hot mixture into the beaten egg yolks, then return the egg mixture to the saucepan.
  4. Cook for 2 more minutes, stirring constantly, then remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  5. In a 2-quart dish, layer half of the vanilla wafers, half of the banana slices, and half of the pudding mixture.
  6. Repeat layers, finishing with pudding on top.
  7. In a mixing bowl, beat heavy cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
  8. Spread whipped cream over the top of the pudding.
  9. Chill for at least 4 hours before serving.
