Description
A hearty Italian-American pasta dish with layers of ziti, ground beef, ricotta cheese, and marinara sauce, baked to perfection.

- 1 pound ziti pasta
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
- 15 oz ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- Cook ziti according to package directions. Drain.
- Brown ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
- Mix ricotta, egg, Parmesan, garlic, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- Combine cooked ziti with marinara sauce and ground beef.
- Layer half the pasta mixture in a 9×13 baking dish.
- Spread ricotta mixture evenly over pasta.
- Top with remaining pasta mixture.
- Sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top.
- Bake for 25 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
Notes
- Let rest 5 minutes before serving
- Can substitute Italian sausage for ground beef
- Freezes well for up to 3 months
