- 6 cups cubed French bread
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Place bread cubes in the prepared dish.
- In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
- Pour the mixture over the bread cubes, pressing down to soak.
- Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour or overnight.
- Drizzle melted butter over the top and sprinkle with brown sugar and pecans.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden and set.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Use stale bread for better texture.
- Add fresh berries or maple syrup when serving.
- Replace pecans with walnuts or omit for nut-free version.
