Description
This crispy air fryer chicken is juicy on the inside and perfectly crunchy on the outside. It’s an easy and healthier way to enjoy fried chicken without the guilt!
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 chicken thighs, bone-in and skin-on
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Add the chicken thighs and ensure they are fully submerged. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.
- In a shallow dish, mix the flour and breadcrumbs together. Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing excess to drip off.
- Dredge each chicken thigh in the flour and breadcrumb mixture, pressing to adhere. Shake off any excess coating.
- Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (193°C). Lightly spray the basket with cooking spray.
- Arrange the coated chicken thighs in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Spray the tops lightly with cooking spray.
- Cook for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the chicken is golden brown and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
Notes
- For extra crunch, you can add more breadcrumbs or panko.
- Feel free to use chicken breasts or drumsticks if you prefer.
- Make sure not to overcrowd the air fryer basket for even cooking.
