This air fryer whole chicken is juicy, tender, and perfectly crispy on the outside. It’s a quick and easy way to enjoy a delicious roast chicken without the hassle of traditional roasting.

- 1 whole chicken (about 3–4 pounds)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
- 1 lemon, halved
- Fresh herbs for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 360°F (180°C).
- Pat the chicken dry with paper towels. This helps to ensure crispy skin.
- In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, thyme, and rosemary.
- Rub the spice mixture all over the chicken, making sure to get under the skin and inside the cavity.
- Stuff the cavity of the chicken with the lemon halves.
- Place the chicken in the air fryer basket breast side down. Cook for 30 minutes.
- After 30 minutes, carefully flip the chicken over so it is breast side up. Cook for an additional 25-30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Once cooked, remove the chicken from the air fryer and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before carving.
- Garnish with fresh herbs if desired, and serve.
Notes
- For extra crispy skin, you can cook the chicken for an additional 5 minutes after it reaches the desired internal temperature.
