Ingredients

  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Soak the sliced onions in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes to tenderize and flavor them.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Remove the onions from the buttermilk and let excess liquid drip off.
  5. Dredge the onions in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
  6. Arrange the coated onions in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Spray lightly with cooking spray.
  7. Cook in the air fryer for 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking, until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Remove from the air fryer and let cool slightly before serving.

  • For extra crunch, you can double-dip the onions by dipping them back in buttermilk and then in the flour again before air frying.
