Air Fryer Ham: 5 Steps to Perfectly Caramelized Flavor

  • Author: ushinzomr

Description

This air fryer ham recipe yields a perfectly caramelized and flavorful ham, ideal for holidays or special occasions. It’s quick and easy, making it a great choice for any dinner table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 fully cooked ham (around 35 pounds)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 1/4 cup apple juice or orange juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 320°F (160°C).
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, honey, ground cloves, ground cinnamon, black pepper, and Dijon mustard if using.
  3. Score the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern, about 1/4 inch deep. This helps the glaze adhere and adds flavor.
  4. Rub the sugar mixture all over the ham, making sure to get it into the scored areas.
  5. Place the ham in the air fryer basket, and pour the apple or orange juice into the bottom of the basket to add moisture.
  6. Cook the ham in the air fryer for about 30-40 minutes, basting with the juices halfway through, until heated through and caramelized.
  7. Check the internal temperature; it should reach at least 140°F (60°C).
  8. Remove the ham from the air fryer and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Choose a ham that fits comfortably in your air fryer basket. You may need to trim it down slightly.
  • For a spicier glaze, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a splash of hot sauce to the glaze.
  • Leftover ham can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
