A crispy, flavorful chicken parmesan made in the air fryer for a healthier version of the classic dish.

- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup marinara sauce
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Cut chicken breasts in half horizontally to make 4 thin pieces.
- In a shallow bowl, mix breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- In another bowl, beat the egg.
- Dredge each chicken piece in flour, then dip in the egg, and coat with the breadcrumb mixture.
- Lightly spray or brush the air fryer basket with olive oil.
- Place chicken in the air fryer in a single layer.
- Cook for 10 minutes, flip, then cook for another 5 minutes.
- Top each piece with marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese.
- Air fry for another 2 minutes until cheese melts.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, spray the breaded chicken with cooking oil before air frying.
- Use panko breadcrumbs for a crunchier texture.
- Serve with pasta or a side salad.
